For my upcoming trip to Europe, I desperately needed to find a new pair of cute shorts. Luckily, the Dani Short & Pant pattern was perfect! Finding shorts that fit me is always tricky, so I was excited to finally update my summer wardrobe. I prefer my shorts to be fairly long, so I added about 5” to the inseam, and it came out a darling, almost mini-skirtesque, length. In the end, ended I created size #4 of View A. Altering and cutting out the pattern was quite simple, although the fly option had a lot of extra pieces. I bought about 1.5 m of cotton linen fabric and had the exact right amount of fabric. The material was easy to work with and added a nice touch of texture to a simple garment. My one warning would be to be very careful when preparing the fly and picking the right side of the front to cut. I accidentally cut the wrong side, and now my fly is technically backward. But who would know? Also, the fly zipper was quite tricky. But other than that, this project was a breeze. It was a joy because it came together so quickly, and the details were easy to finish correctly. I personally adore the high-waisted paper bag waistband! The project took me about 7-8 hours, including fiddling with the fly. However, I imagine it would go much faster if you do the option without the fly. Overall, this was a satisfying project; I am very proud of how it turned out. The shorts are comfy, compact, and perfect for travelling, exercising, and lounging by the pool.
