Sewing Basics Crash Course

In this 2hr class we will teach you the basics to get started. Bring your own machine or use one of ours.

• Learn how to operate a sewing machine including threading, winding a bobbin, and how to use different stitch settings.

• Practice basic stitches.

• Learn how to read a commercial pattern envelope to determine your materials list.

• Learn about the grain and bias of fabric and how to cut out a pattern properly.

• Go over a sewing room set up for successful sewing, learn about the essential tools to get started.

Note: If bringing your own machine, you will also need to bring a spool of thread and an empty bobbin.

Sewing Skills Workshop

As part of the Intro to Sewing package, you will receive 5 sessions to our Sewing Skills Workshop. You will use these classes to practice your skills and work on a project suitable for a new sewist (we will talk about this in the Crash Course). As well, you will have access to our practice worksheets, which are designed to help you develop your sewing skills.
